Daisy’s Popcorn Balls

Recipe Details

Cook Time: 5 Minutes
Ingredients:
  • 6 qts of popped popcorn
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup brown Karo (make it overflow)
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Put 6 qts of popped popcorn in a big pan.  Put in oven on 250° while you make carmel.

In saucepan on stove:

1 ½ cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup brown Karo (make it overflow)

¾ cup water

Cook to a hard ball stage. (approx. 240°)  If you have no thermometer, stir sauce until it boils.  After it reaches a rolling boil, don’t stir, but let it boil for 5 minutes.

Take off heat and add:

1 tsp salt

¼ cup butter

Stir and then add:

1 tsp soda

1 tsp vanilla

Pour over 6 qts of popped popcorn.  Mix and form into balls!
